How does the AI photobook designer work?
Our AI photobook designer is a smart tool built into our website to help make creating your book quicker and easier. It works by analysing the photos you upload, grouping them, and suggesting clean, professional-looking layouts.
Think of it as a helpful starting point that saves time, which you can then fully customise however you like. You always have full control over your design, and nothing is changed or used beyond helping you build your photobook.
Do I need design experience to create a photobook?
Absolutely not! Our online photobook creator is intuitive for everyone. The drag and-drop interface and automatic design features mean you can create a beautiful, personalised photobook without any prior design skills.
What size are your books?
We offer three book sizes; A4 Portrait, A4 Landscape and 26x33cm Landscape. The internal pages for our A4 books are standard A4 size (210 × 297 mm). The 26x33cm Landscape pages are 322 x 262mm. The hardcover is made slightly larger than the pages to allow for the binding and to help protect the edges of the book.
How long does it take to receive my photobook?
Our production time is 5-7 business days from when you place your order. Standard shipping is an additional 2-7 business days and express post is an additional 1-2 business days. Once your order has been shipped you will receive a tracking number via email.
What if there is no template for the country I want?
If there is no template matching your destination or theme, you can select our Start From Scratch template and create your own here

Yes, customisation is a core part of the Momento experience. You can customise the book as much as you like, add your own title and background colour, add as many photos or text boxes as you like and make use of our many pre-defined layouts.
Can I add a photo or text across two pages?
Perfect bound photobooks use a glued spine, which means the pages do not open completely flat. As a result, there is a small inner margin (often called a gutter) near the spine where part of the page is not fully visible. If an image or text is placed across the centre of two facing pages, a small portion in the middle may be hidden by the binding. This is a normal and expected feature of perfect bound books. To avoid this, we recommend keeping important content away from the centre fold.
What cover options do you have?
All of our books feature a premium printed linen hardcover, designed for a refined, high-quality finish.
What paper options do you have?
The internal pages are printed on 200gsm silk paper using professional printing processes, ensuring excellent colour, detail, and durability. The pages are then perfect bound. We do not currently offer a lay-flat binding option.
How much do your books cost?
The base price for our A4 size books is $99.95 and this includes 30 pages.
Each additional page is $1.82 and pages must be added in sets of 2.
The base price for our 26x33cm Landscape size book is $199, including 30 pages.
Each additional page is $2.80 and pages must be added in sets of 2.
The maximum page count for both sizes is 200.
What is the red border in the designer?
When designing your photobook, it’s important to be aware of the bleed area and safe area, as these help ensure your book prints exactly as intended.
The bleed area is the red outer edge of the page that may be trimmed during production. If you have backgrounds, colours, or images that you want to run all the way to the edge of the page, they should extend into this area to avoid any white edges after trimming.
The grey safe area sits slightly inside the page edges. We recommend keeping any important content — such as faces, text, or key details — within this area so nothing important is cut off during trimming.
Our designer includes guides to show both of these areas, making it easy to position your content correctly.
What is the suggested photo quality for your books?
For the best possible print quality, we recommend using images that are 300 DPI at the size they are placed in your book.
Our designer will automatically flag any images that may not print well:
- Images under 120 DPI will show a low quality warning
- Images at 96 DPI or lower will be flagged as very low quality
These warnings are there to help ensure your final book prints as clearly and sharply as possible.
That said, you can still proceed with lower resolution images if you choose, just keep in mind they may appear soft or pixelated when printed, particularly if enlarged.
I placed my order but just realised I made a mistake, can I edit it?
Once your order is placed, the files go straight into our production queue to print. You will need to contact us either via phone or email to see if we can still edit your order. If the book has already been printed, there may be a fee to reorder it after correcting the mistake.
I started a project and now I can’t find it.
You will need to log back into your account on our website, then go to ‘Projects’ under your profile. If you have saved the project, it will show here and you can select ‘Edit’ to keep working on it. If you cannot find your project here, please contact us.
Can I reorder the same book?
Yes you can! You will need to log back into your account on our website, then go to ‘Projects’ under your profile. Find the project you are wanting to reorder, select ‘Duplicate’, then you can select ‘Edit’ and proceed to the checkout page.
How long do you keep projects for?
Projects created using a guest account are saved for 7 days. We recommend creating an account before starting your project so it can be saved securely and accessed later.
Projects saved to an account are kept for 45 days. This timeframe resets each time you open, edit, and save your project, so as long as you’re actively working on it, it will remain available.
Once an order has been placed, your project is stored for 400 days.
What happened to the old Momento?
The original Momento business has permanently closed in 2024. We have since purchased the Momento domain name and some of their printing equipment, but we did not purchase or acquire the original Momento business or its customer database.
We’ve chosen to reinvent the Momento website with a new photobook platform.
This new Momento is a completely separate business with no affiliation to the former Momento company.
Unfortunately, previous customer accounts, projects, orders and gift cards from the old Momento system are not accessible or recoverable, as we do not have access to any of that data.
We’d love to welcome you to the new Momento experience, where you can start fresh and create new photobooks with the same dedication to quality and creativity that Momento was known for.
I ordered through the old Momento website, can I reorder my book through you?
Unfortunately, previous customer accounts, projects, orders and gift cards from the old Momento system are not accessible or recoverable, as we do not have access to any of that data.
I created a project in the old Momento desktop software, can I still order it?
Unfortunately we do not have access to the old Momento software. Your project would need to be recreated through our online designer on our website.
Where are your books printed?
Momento is proudly based in Melbourne. You can create your photobook directly on our website and have it delivered anywhere in Australia or New Zealand.

How do I get the custom map on my travel book?
All of our travel templates come with a custom designed map on the first page. This map is included in the template, so when you open the designer you will see it on page 1. Please note that if you delete the map or replace it with a photo, it will not be added again.
If you choose to use the AI designer, it may override the map on page 1 with an image. You can simply remove the image and add the map back to page 1 by selecting it from the Cliparts section on the left side tool bar and dragging it onto the page.
How can I select the patterned end sheet?
All of our books come with a custom patterned end sheet which is not editable in the designer. End sheets are the pages at the very front and back of a hardcover book that attach the pages to the cover. This is automatically added to your book and you don’t need to do anything to select it. We have custom designed each pattern to complement the cover and theme of the book. Please note our Start From Scratch template comes with plain white end sheets.
Can I share my photobook to a friend?
Yes you can share your project with a friend! Once you have your project open in the designer, click on ‘Project’ in the top left tool bar, then ‘Share’. Next to Share this project with the world, select Yes. You can then choose whether to add a watermark and if you would like the person to be able to make their own edits. Once you have selected these options, click on Copy and share that URL to your friend. If you have allowed that person to edit the project, they will then be able to make changes and save it. Once you reopen the project you will see their changes.
How do I create and order a book?
- Go to our website and select the little person icon in the top right corner,
then click Sign In. - Enter your login details and click Sign In.
- You will then see a box that says Project List. You can click on this to view any projects you have started that are saved to your account.
- If the project you are wanting to continue editing is listed here, you can simply click Edit next to the project and open it up to continue working on it.
- To start a new project, go to Products, then Travel Photobooks in the top left corner.
- Click on the Start From Scratch template.
- Select either Portrait or Landscape from the dropdown menu underneath where it says Select Orientation.
- Click on Add to Cart.
- You can then select to either use the AI Designer 'Smart Photobook' or create your own 'Manual Photobook'.
- The designer will then open up and you can start working on the book.
- At the top in the middle, you can rename the project and you will see the Save button there. Please ensure you continually save it.
- When you are finished designing, click on the purple Order button in the top right corner to proceed to the checkout page.
- If you are not ready to order yet, save the project then close it. Next time you would like to work on the book, go to our website, login to your account and click on Project List to find the project.
